RDP to VM "Internal error".

Hi.

Have a test environment on Server 2012 R2 with Hyper-V.

The server have one configured NIC. 192.168.2.100

Hyper-V configured with "internal" network virtual switch. 10.10.0.1

To access my VM's on 10.10.0.0/24 I configured my router with static route 10.10.0.0/24 192.168.2.100.

Routing and Remote Access role installed on server.

Everything working fine except RDP to VM's.

When I'm trying connect to VM's from my laptop 192.168.2.5/24 GWT 192.168.2.1, I'm getting "Internal Error" on black rdp screen. And after this RDP completely stop working to VM's and physical server at the same time. The only restart of physical server is helping. When I'm trying to restart RRAS service the following Event ID's are generated:

Closing a UDP socket with local port number 62174 in process 664 is taking longer than expected. The local port number may not be available until the close operation is completed. This happens typically due to misbehaving network drivers. Ensure latest updates are installed for Windows and any third-party networking software including NIC drivers, firewalls, or other security products.

And so on.

Any idea?

Hi Rufat,

Can you RDP connect to the VM from HOST properly?

Did you try to set VM's GW as 10.10.0.1 ?

Hi RFT,

"RDP to host until RDP to VM's is working just fine"  , I could not understand this sentence clearly .

According to the error message , my suggestion is to remove the RRAS then upgrade NIC driver for hyper-v host ,after this please update integration service for VMs .

Any further information please feel free to let us know .

Best Regards

RDP to host working fine until I try RDP to VM.

All drivers have been updated but without uninstalling and installing RRAS.

Tried to install new network driver and after reinstall RRAS. No results. The server model it's brand new HP Proliant DL380p G8. I'm really confused.

Hi RFT,

I tested your configuration just now , it worked well .

Please try to configure a legacy network card for the VM  and disable some function of the host NIC (such as VMQ,checksum,RSS ) then retry RDP to VM.

Hi Elton.

I noticed one interesting thing. When I start the host and connect to vm it's working fine.

But when I firstly connect to host and after this in a separate window connect to vm then all server connections stop working. When I try to restart RRAS service it's just stack on a Stopping state.

Any operations with network settings on the server stop working. No matter it's Hyper-V network settings or RRAS or just a network adaptor settings. Every window freeze.

Thanx Elton. Turning off advanced features helped. I will try to find the exactly cause of the problem later.
